On patrol with Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 64

I recently had the opportunity to ride along with three members of Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 64. The Flotilla is located just down the Gulf coast from Galveston, in a tiny beach community of Surfside, Texas. Surfside is also the home to Coast Guard Station Freeport and the Coast Guard Cutter Manta, an 87-foot patrol boat.
Flotilla 64, which consists of 18 members, all of whom are volunteers, assists the active duty components with the various missions performed by the station and Manta.
Below is a brief interview and photo piece in which the members themselves explain what it is they do, and why they do it.
