>D8 Dodgeball Tournament

>Story and video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Elizabeth Bordelon

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and… dodge. The five D’s of dodge ball.

Nothing says morale like hurling a ball at your shipmate’s noggin.

The Coast Guard Sector New Orleans morale committee hosted its first dodge ball tournament on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011. Eight teams, made up of active duty and reserve Coast Guard members, participated in the morning’s events. The teams played three, three-minute rounds in a double elimination series. In the end, the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans team, the International House of Pain, took home the trophy and the title of champions.

“It was a great event and the morale committee did a wonderful job,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Moore, the lead petty officer of situation controls for Sector New Orleans. “It was a lot of fun to see people from all the other units and getting out of the office for a few hours.”
